Vincent & Lucero January 14, 2012 Clover Island Inn Ceremony officiated by Rev. Stacey Miles Opening Words Our setting along the mighty Columbia River serves as a beautiful metaphor for marriage. The river’s calm waters lap the shore, its strong undercurrents rage toward the ocean, carving a path through valleys and mountains, forever changing the landscape, widening the bends, providing precious resources to the land through which it flows. Just like the river, love endures the pressures of change and growth, and love nourishes the lives it touches. Love is the natural, beautiful force that gives our lives meaning. Love enshrines and ennobles our life experiences. It is the basis for the peace, of family, of all humanity, and the greatest gift bestowed upon anyone of us. Love is endlessly amazing when two persons discover everlasting love in one another. Lucero and Vincent have found this force, this love, and we, their friends and family who have shared in their lives, have come together to witness and celebrate as they declare to the world, ‘I have found the one to spend my life with.’ Vincent and Lucero, this ceremony is the public and legal joining of your lives, a declaration of your choice to stand together through calm and rage as husband and wife. With proper care and dedication, trust and acceptance, your marriage will allow you a new environment to build your lives together, to bravely face life and the world, side by side, hand-in-hand. This union will expand you as individuals, define you as a couple, and deepen your love for one another. I ask you each to answer my questions only if your intent is pure and true: Vincent, do you promise to stand by Lucero’s side in both times of loss as well as times of gain? Will you forever trust, respect and celebrate her? Will you grow with her, unselfishly encouraging and appreciating? Do you pledge your fidelity and love to her for so long as you both shall live? Do you take her to be your lawfully wedded wife? Lucero, do you promise to stand by Vincent’s side both in good times and in bad? Will you forever be nurturing and supporting? Will you laugh, play and enjoy the simple pleasures with him? Do you pledge your fidelity and love for so long as you both shall live? Do you take Vincent to be your lawfully wedded husband? Exchange of Vows Vincent and Lucero, the vows you are about to exchange aren’t magical words that will make your marriage endure with beauty, fidelity and joy. Vincent, with understanding you must pull the resources from deep within yourself each and every day to make this marriage last, please repeat your vows to Lucero after me,  Lucero, you are my one true love,  my best friend and soul mate.  You complete my spirit , and compliment my soul.  Today, before our family, friends and the heavens,  I pledge my love to you,  and promise to share,  the rest of my life with you.
Lucero, with understanding you must pull the resources from deep within yourself each and every day to make this marriage last, please repeat your vows to Vincent after me,  Vincent, you are my one true love,  my best friend and soul mate.  You complete my spirit , and compliment my soul.  Today, before our family, friends and the heavens,  I pledge my love to you,  and promise to share,  the rest of my life with you. Ring Exchange The rings you are about to exchange are symbols of your eternal love. The ring has long been a symbol of the sincerity and permanence of a couple's love for one another and regard for their marriage. Your life together will not always be calm and easy, but remember, just as a circle can begin anew at any point, a good marriage can pick any point to renew itself. Vincent, do you have a ring for your bride? Please place this ring on your beloved’s finger, and repeat after me, I give you this ring  as a symbol of my love and faithfulness.  As I place it on your finger,  I commit my heart and soul to you.  I ask you to wear this ring  as a reminder of the vows   we have spoken today, our wedding day.   Lucero, do you have a ring for your groom? Please place this ring on your beloved’s finger, and repeat after me, I give you this ring  as a symbol of my love and faithfulness.  As I place it on your finger,  I commit my heart and soul to you.  I ask you to wear this ring  as a reminder of the vows   we have spoken today, our wedding day. Blessing of the Marriage If we may all bow our heads for a blessing for this marriage. May that glory which rests on all who love, rest upon Vincent and Lucero. May love bless them and keep them, and fill them with happiness and a gracious spirit. Despite all changes of time and fortune, may all that is noble and lovely and true abound in their hearts and abide with you, and give them strength in all their days together. Amen. Declaration of Marriage What love has brought together, let no one break asunder. For as much as you, Vincent and Lucero, have consented to live together in marriage and have pledged yourselves to one another, and have declared the same by the giving and receiving of rings, it is with great pleasure and by the authority vested in me, to hereby pronounce you husband and wife.  Friends and family, I present to you Mr. & Mrs.. Vincent, you may kiss your bride!
